Eyal Sela
The classically trained multi-instrumentalist Eyal Sela, continues his adventure into studying, composing and playing ethnic traditional music with this album 'Call of the Mountain' where he collaborates with the Darma Ensemble. Tracks are mystical, intriguing and even haunting at times this they point to the ancient world with a strong emphasis on Meron festivities of Kabbalic worship that is rooted within the Jewish Diaspora. It is fascinating that there is a blend of the ancient and contemporary world as acoustic traditional sounds of Turkish, Greek, Arab, Druze, Romanian and Bulgarian melodies are blended with electronica and done with great expertise. The album is truly unique and can be described as an embodiment of what the genre of world music is. It may very well be unlike what you have ever heard.
